Zakopane

About 110 km from the major city of Krakow lays Zakopane, one of the best places to visit in Poland during the winter. Nestled at the foot of the Tatra Mountains it’s easily one of the best places to visit in Europe. The Polish mountain town serves as a great base for this stretch of the Carpathian Mountains. The Carpathian Mountains are the second-highest mountain range in Europe behind the Alps.

This town is a very busy one, and there are numerous things to do. Zakopane is an outdoor wonderland that provides visitors access to snow-capped peaks, waterfalls, alpine forests, mountain lakes, wildlife, quaint towns, and meadow-filled valleys. 

The most famous thing tourists choose to do in Zakopane is skiing during the time of holidays in winter. You could spend the holidays skiing in the resort nearby, or if you are unfavorable to ski in the winter season, check out the thermal pools.

You could experience various activities like snowmobiles, sleigh rides, ice skating, or even ski touring. Zakopane offers visitors a wide range of sports such as mountain biking, hiking, skiing, and even paragliding. Zakopane is about as far south as Poland gets, bordering Tatra National Park, there is no shortage of activities here.
